Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the lord is, there is liberty.

2 Corinthians 3:17

Aloha folks I am back with the 2nd part of the Constructicon review which consists of Hook and Long Haul. This is also known as the 3 of 5 release of this Studio Series set. Without delay, let's get started!

This comes in a special bigger box than your standard individual box. The contents are laid out with Hook, Long Haul, Long Haul's cargo which forms Devastator's pelvic and thigh area ( I guess he is the parts former here). And it also comes with Devastator's fists and chest piece. The set also comes with a instruction manual for Long Haul/Hook and one to form Devastator. We are nearly at the end.

Since it came in alt mode, I decided to shoot this mode first. But for anyone wondering, I did go into robot mode and then back to alt mode. If you can remember how you de-transformed the duo into robot mode, then it will be a cinch to enter back into alt mode. If not, you always have the instruction manual to remind you.

First off is Hook. Imo, fairly easy to transform and back. The crane comes separate in the box so you need to plug it the back of the vehicle. It can rotate 360 degrees and you move the crane up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right and BA. (J/k here) but you can maneuver it in every direction. The purple part of the crane can extend about an inch or so and then you can move the hook up or in a downward motion. You can remove the crane and put other 5mm weapons to your fancy. I forgot to do a shoot with Devastator's gun in the last review so I put it on Hook. His regular gun can go on it too but if the crane is on, then you have to peg it on the side of the crane.

Now its Long Haul's turn. He is a big dump truck as you can see and he can tow his cargo load which once again forms Devastator's pelvis/thigh region. This is also the feature where you plug Devastator's fist and chest piece. I did use the instructions for this part. I'll admit Long Haul is fun to look at and play with. I think it was every kids dream to have a dump truck toy in their home of some sort. Long Haul's gun comes detached for an odd reason but you can plug his gun or Hooks on the side of him.

So I always thought they made Long Haul too wide when he wasn't in the cartoons. But it's understandable here since he forms most of Devastator's torso. But to be fair, I don't think he looks too wide here. He looks ok. He's got some decent joints. He does have elbow, head, and leg swivel. But sadly, he is lacking a waist swivel. So if you are into turning poses, this dude is limited in that category.
He does have a foldable heel which you can bend assist with some standing poses.

As for Hook. He is the slimmer of the two. His crane can be detached if you choose to do so. Very similar to LH on the swivel. Which also means he has no waist swivel. His arm swivel comes more in the upper bicep area. His arms can extend far center enough for him to use his other arm grapple the magazine area of the gun fyi. Most of the time when you fidget with his arms, his shoulder flaps pop up. Not a big deal, but you will notice it. His feet though is one linear foot and heel. Basically, its one long feet but no ability to fold his heel like LH can. Both figures joints are nice and tight so no qualms there. Hook also has a peg that you can flip out of his chest. I do believe this is crucial when you form Devastator which we will in a later review.

Yeah, you can find this guy in Hook. What ya expect?

Conclusion

So we are almost done with the Constructicons. If my memory serves me correctly, I paid nearly 90 for both guys. And they look great and play very simple thanks to the lack of a waist swivel. I will admit I love the concept of the dump truck and an extending crane. But this is the price you pay I guess if you want to complete the gestalt. Nothing too amazing but the duo aren't terrible either. Once again I don't own the UW/CW versions so I can't compare how much of a downgrade or upgrade they are. They are just there for completion purposes. And that is that. I really don't have much of an opinion on these guys.  Later folks. The final duo are coming soon. Remember to seek out Jesus whether its good or bad days.
