Transformers Toys Studio Series 86-11 Deluxe Class The Transformers: The Movie Perceptor review comparisons with Legends LG-56 Perceptor and Reveal the Shield Perceptor

Stop Complying!

Once a week Transformer review, how does that sound? Well, I'm gonna attempt it. Anyways, I'm back for another TF review: 86 Perceptor! How does he fare? Let's get started!

Boxing

Percy now comes with a identical mini-back drop that houses him. Not sure why they did this but maybe so the original backdrop doesn't get scratched up or so. The back of the box, as usual, describes the scenario. Its also when Percy makes his first appearance in the movie.

Standing tall

Cover your receptors, Preceptor! Initially, I wasn't going to go for this guy but since there was a high demand for this guy, I caved in. I was a little off-put by his face in the computer and box renders in the beginning. Not to mention, he looks chubbier than the Legends release which I will get to later on in this review. But how I feel about this guy after getting up close and personal? I like him. The face does look better in the final product. He does handle well, got the waist swivel, and joints are tight. I was really impressed on how Hastak nailed his movie/anime look. This part is done really well. He does come with a small rifle though I did wish it was a little longer so that way he could grip the 2nd handle of the gun more properly.

If there is any misgivings, it be that weird, large gap behind his back. When I first saw "back" upgrades on Ebay, I knew there was some kind of set back for this guy. And it clearly shows. Not sure why Hastak did this, I could had found the reason possibly which I will get to by the end of this review, but this is a very glaring omission to look at. Once again 3rd parties to the rescue. Lastly, I do feel his blue parts could had used a little darker coloring but its ok overall.

Microscope mode

I see you!

Easy transformation mode. If you played with the TR/Legends version, its almost quite identical.
Not much to comment on this but here is microscope mode.

Team Percy

Who did it best? For the longest time, I never thought they could do better than LG/TR Perceptor. The change from RTS to LG was a whopping one. The change from LG to 86 is more of a marginal change. The real edge 86 Perceptor imo has is pretty much his accurate looks to the movie. Especially 86's head sculpt. LG does look more like his IDW representation which looks great. I always liked how skinnier the IDW looked as if Perceptor started cutting in a workout. LG's scope can be removed and used as a weapon, however it is awfully a little too big where LG Percy has issues turning his head in the scopes direction due to its size once again. 86 just feels right though it would had been nice if Hastak enabled his scope to be removed and played around with.

The microscope mode for RTS Percy is a fan mode I learned back from Realistikkvideos, whom I do believe is no longer on Youtube anymore. She was a goth looking girl that collected figures and went to comic-cons a bit. But if you are reading this, thank you once again.

*Scratch that* Found her.

Other differences

This is something Hastak opted to not do for 86 Perceptor. Both RTS and LG Perceptors are able to retract and extend their lens/metal tip (RTS) on their figures. The first pic shows that both Percy's lens/tip are retracted while the 2nd pic extends theirs. Would had been nice if 86 had this feature as well.

Tank mode

This mode is pretty easy to get to as well. Hastak no longer made this a fan feature but it is also displayed in the back of the box and introduced in the instructions manual. It is quite similar to that of the LG version. As for the RTS one, I did my best.

Alternative shots

One thing that does make LG Perceptor better is weaponry. He does have more weapons which includes the previously explained removable scope. Not to mention, the LG release had Ramhorn as well (not pictured in this review). All in all, the three Perceptors can swap weapons with each other. RTS Perceptor's rifle is from Igear's W-01 boxset for those who are wondering. I think they are no longer in business anymore.

The reason for the gap?

Honestly, I don't know if this is the reason, but his 2nd handle fits in his back like this.

Conclusion

86 Percy is a must if you skipped out on the TR/LG version. Plus he is more accurate looking to the movie. I feel TR/LG Percy is good enough if you are on a budget or if you simply just want one Perceptor. However, 86 Perceptor looks the part like I've been saying this entire time and he is a fine figure overall. If you have no qualms on double dipping, he is the Perceptor you've been waiting for.  What would really help is if you got his back.... part waiting for him. Alright, thank you folks for visiting and hope to see you next time. Peace.

Alternate Universe Optimus Prime- Transformers Generations Earthrise War for Cybertron review. Transformers the movie dead Optimus prime!

Alternate Universe Optimus Prime
You can not comply your way out of tyranny

Aloha folks. I'm back with another review of Transformers. Thanks to Transfan84/Darkonen giving me ER Optimus Prime, I was finally able to open up this guy I picked up from Amazon since last year. Why is that? You will see soon enough. Without haste, let's get started!

Boxing

Chest

Alternate Universe Optimus Prime
Who do you see?

Head/shoulders
Right arm

Left arm

Back

Crotch/pelvis

The figure comes in box that resembles Optimus's battered body. I have labeled the pics to show you the body parts that are visualized as you inspect the outer box. You can also see Hot Rod, Ultra Magnus, and Arcee's reflection on the left chest panel. As his chest cavity opens, you reveal the figure. Neat concept.

Here is the video if you prefer see the body parts in real time.

The contents are pretty much the same packaged release like ER Prime. The main differences are: Primes spark-less body, his trailer is dulled out (pretty much yellowed, haha), gun is silver painted now (much nicer looking as well), and battle damage: marks on mouthpiece, slash on the left stomach, and bent ears. All trademark damage caused by Megatron in the 86 flick. I received a matrix in this one though but thanks to that thick chest of his again, it's a little difficult for alt Prime to hold the matrix steady in most angles. The Matrix color included here seems to be a little duller looking than the one that came with Hot Rod. Or it looked to me that way. Alt-Prime also uses the same gimmicks ER Prime had regarding the trailer parts and poses.

*This alt-Prime version uses another rifle provided by Darkonen/Transfan84 given to me around Christmas 2020.

Alt mode

As for alt mode, easy to transform if you already played with ER Prime. Same gimmick though I forgot to mention you can plug his weapons inside of his trailer if that is your forte. Not to mention, you can stick the artillery drone outside the trailer while it is folded up.

*Missed opportunity: I should have had ER prime man that drone in these pics.*

You can see the differences. Apparently, dying caused Prime's trailer to fade out as well. Since its the same mold, they can both swap each other's parts out. The joints are tight for both figures as both of them are alike in the play factor. Both look great in their respective conditions.

Optimus Prime's death scene

"One day an Autobot shall rise from our ranks, and use the power of the Matrix to light our darkest hour." ~ Optimus Prime.

"I fear the wounds are... fatal." ~ Perceptor

"Ultra Magnus, it is to you old friend. I shall pass the matrix of leadership as it was passed to me."

Optimus Prime death

"Until that day, Till all are one."

I had fun though I wish I had a better setup.  I had no actual Daniel figure sans the 86 Slag counterpart one. Till all are one.

Conclusion:

This is figure to have if you are a Optimus mark. You are double dipping on the same ER figure but I always wanted it just to re-play the death scene. I'll end it here. Until next time. Thank you for visiting and reading. Till all are one.

Darn it Magnus, I said it was to you!
