Transformers Power of the Primes Outback review

Outback21

Aloha folks, today we have an oldie but a goodie. I had this guy in storage for a while and when I looked at one of my shelves, there he was. I figured it was time to let him out of his box. Without delay, let's get started.

Came with a trading card. This figure, if I recall right, was also a remold of TR/LG Brawn. I didn't own that figure since I had Igear Hench at the time, and he was much larger.

I've been dealing with simple figures as of lately and OB is definitely one of them. If I recall right, he was roughly $10, and for that price in point, he plays very good for one. He doesn't come with his gun sadly, but one of his roof and spare tire detaches and becomes his weapon or his back for that matter. You can also use it like a shield. No waist swivel though the head swivels nicely. His back does open which we will get into the alt mode section. Joints are tight. Well, that sounds about right.

Alt mode.

Super easy transformation. I give it 20 secs I say. No need instructions though it is there if you need it. His back which forms his front window can open so you can put a power prime/headmaster figure in there. And his spare tire shield can be either placed where his legs is or on top the roof. Transform him without taking it off the legs and you get this nice blocky leg reminiscent of the G1 days where lots of figures had one big block of a leg.

Final words

Here is where I will give a bummer possibly type of speech. This figure is roughly 7 years old as I am writing this. Somewhere in 2026, they will release his G1 retro version of him with joints plus his missing gun. I have to admit, some of these G1 retro releases are starting to look impressive and you could possibly buy that version to replace this one. Not only that but would it be a stretch that we might have a remold of 86 Brawn turned into this guy? He is also on the smaller side so that is not a plus for him. Not only that but on Ebay, so much people are already trying to sell their figure of this guy. And now I'm finally enjoying who he is. And of course, that excitement will cease to be when an updated, taller version of him arrives.

Is this guy a good figure, yes! He is. If you don't care about scale or how attached you were to this bot's character, then the POTP figure is great. Otherwise, hold off. But if you really desperate for an OB figure now, like I said, Ebay is full of people trying to sell him. See you next time and go with God.
