Transformers Legacy United Gears pics and review

Gears14

Aloha folks, I am back with another TF review. This time it is Legacy United Gears. I had him a while back but I opened him up last month when I was on my trip to the Big Island of Hawaii but never had the time to complete the pics, editing, and review until now. Without further delay, let's get started!

I'm not sure why his chest piece comes separate. I thought it was possibly to prevent theft as Transformers wiki seems to feel the same way. You can't use it as a shield or anything but it is used as a homage to which I get to in the next category. Gears comes tied in a generic backdrop Hasbro tend to use these days in which I tend to toss afterwards. If it was done in the 86 studio series caliber, I definitely keep it. Comes with his blaster as well.

So this is the figure in a jiff. I always thought he looked like some kind of cog like machine probably hence the name Gears. I found it awkward at first he had a trapezoid like head and I'm not too familiar with the character despite seeing him a few times in the original G1 show.

The figure himself is very simple. He plays simple too. And there is nothing wrong with that. He does have head and waist swivel for those wondering. Maybe a tad pricey for a $25 figure but that is where we are heading these days for a deluxe figure. Getting back to his chest piece, it opens up because it pays homage to that one episode where he was controlled by the Decepticons and they were reconfiguring him by opening up his chest piece. If my memory served me right, he was often the grumpy Autobot, and when he was controlled, he was momentarily a nice guy until he was freed from Decepticon control. The back of his head is molded a W sign though TF wiki says its actually an M (Mysterians), from which the Gears toy originated from.

Visually, the figure looks, or at least looks like his G1 model. But I say that on most figures and then you get 86 Blaster who even looks more like his animated part then the Kingdom one. Oh well, getting off track.

One of the easiest "no need of instructions" transformations in TF history. Give yourself a minute or so. I did that very quick. He is a mini pick up truck. his chest piece forms his trunk (you can remove it if you want) and it serves as a ramp that doesn't lower all the way. His gun can be used anywhere with the 5mm port. Use your imagination.

Finale

Gears is a very and I mean very simple figure to play and he works well that way. No real qualms. If you had to add him to your G1 ark line, then yes, he will fit in fine. I don't really have much to say here. Once again, he plays well for a figure. The only reason you are not going to get him is whether you have an attachment to the character or not. But darn me for just wanting all the characters that appeared in the G1 show.

Transformers 40th Anniversary Event May 19, 2024

Caught the Sunday screening of the Transformers 40th Anniversary screening. This was not the screening of the 86 movie but the first 4 episodes which includes More than meets the Eye 1-3 and Transport to Oblivion. The real bonus was that the first episode was re-dubbed by new and old veterans. Frank Todaro did a really good job as Starscream filling in the for the late Chris Latta. Prior to the screening, there were toy ads and previews for the upcoming Transformers one film. There was also outtakes of the redubs after episode 1.

From Episode 2 and beyond, it was just the original aired episodes. The screening goes downhill after the outtakes. It just felt like filler at this point. They should had just ended imo after More than meets the eye episode 3.

When the episodes end, there is a PSA with Bumblebee and a "In Memoriam" quickie with now deceased voice actors. Then the auditorium just lits up. This was found to be very irksome by the TF community. No final words but just a remembrance quickie and that is it, the show is over.

It is what it is. This was pretty much for true fans or people who really grew up with TF. Even then, it was kinda of disappointing. I really wished they redub all 4 episodes. Not only that but at least have some kinda of thank you letter towards the end.  At least that would had made it a little worthwhile. Well, see you next with Spider-man Homecoming re-release.

Transformers Toys Studio Series Core Class The The Movie Decepticon Frenzy (Red)

 Frenzy15

Aloha folks, today I am back with another review: Core Class Studio series 86 Frenzy! Yeah, the red dude. Without delay, let's get started!

Frenzy01 Frenzy02 Frenzy03 Frenzy04 Frenzy05 Frenzy06

The box is pretty much the same as 86 Rumble. Only difference really is the color palette swap of the figure and portraits. The backdrop is the same as 86 Rumble as well.

Frenzy ( and comparisons with Rumble)

If you played with Rumble, Frenzy is no different. The piledrivers and gun handling/storage applies the same here. I do like Frenzy's coloring better than Rumbles. So if I had to choose one of them, it most likely be Frenzy. Frenzy has the same colored gun as well and you can pretty much swap piledrivers with each other. Like Rumble, I wish Frenzy had elbow joints. I felt that its really needed here.

To no one's surprise, same transformation as Rumble and fits into Soundwave's chest cavity a slight tight fit like Rumble.

Conclusion

Yeah, this review was short. Despite color differences, this guy is pretty much an identical figure to Rumble. No real contrast here. I do like Frenzy's color better however. If you liked Rumble, then you will like Frenzy. Or if you need to fulfill your Soundwave minion collection. The only bummer like his piledriver brethren is the lack of elbow joints. Anyhow, see you next time and Jesus loves you.
