Transformers United Jazz UN-12 Review! United Jazz vs Reveal the Shield Jazz comparison

Jazz is arguably one of the most popular autobots in the TF franchise. So what does Michael Bay do? Yep, he kills his character off in the first film. Another Jazz figure you bought? I dunno why but when I saw the United version of Jazz, I had to get him. I was amazed by how the paint quality was much better than the Reveal the Shield version. I paid almost twice the price to get him. The funny thing is that I held this figure for nearly 4 years before finally deciding to let him out of his cage. Was he worth it? Like usual, we go through boxing >>> Alt mode >>> Robot mode >>> then conclusion.

Boxing

Fyi, Jazz is called Meister in Japan. Ever since the United releases and beyond, Takara started to name their figures after their Hasbro counter parts. Anyhow, here is:

Alt mode

This has been pointed out numerous times by the internet fandom, but since you are probably reading this, I will spot out the differences as best as I can.

- The United version has a silver grill whereas the RTS version is plain white.
- The United version has a painted autobot insignia on the hood while the RTS has the heat rub signature on the roof.
- The blue is darker on the United version.
- The red stripes is slightly brighter on the United version.
- Rims are painted silver on the United version.
- The backlights are painted red on the United where the RTS is... *sigh* plain white.
- The belly remains nearly the same though the United version has more metallic silver areas than the dull grey of the RTS version.
- RTS version looks pre-yellowed in comparison to the bright white Takara United used.

The differences pretty much remain the same as car mode. The Silver looks much nicer in the United version and the paint is much brighter there too. There is also some shades of blue on the United version between his calves. RTS remains white. I personally felt the United version had much tighter joints as well, but the RTS version is still good as heck. The guns are identical as Takara dropped the chrome weapon gimmick that they previously had for the Henkei line.

Conclusion:
Both are solid figures, regardless of which version you get, Jazz is still one of the best classics figures up to date. If you had the money, I would go for the United version, but if the RTS version is all you could obtain, he is still worth it. Jazz is one of the few figures that I actually double dipped minus the troop building figures ( Sweeps, Junkions etc..) That is how awesome Jazz is. Take care folks and see you next time.
