Transformers Retrospective look: Reveal the Shield Special Ops Jazz review

I decided to continue my retrospective look for the time being. In today is Reveal the Shield Jazz whom I acquired a couple years back; all the pics was taken a couple years back as well though the review is freshly done.  At the time he was released, I found him in a Kmart alongside Reveal the Shield Tracks for $13 each. Kmart also had a sales promotion on all their toys so I ended up getting both for $10. Score!

Alt mode:

I'm not good with car models or brands but Jazz looks really nice and his transformation alt mode is fairly close to the original G1 look. As a gimmick they threw in his speakers which he used fairly often in the cartoons. When it comes to transformation, transforming him into a car without the instructions can be slightly mind boggling. He's not easy to transform back and forward, but he ain't too difficult either. Besides that, Jazz is looking good so far.

Transform!

Speakers attached to weapons.

Awesome figure. I remember doing all these myriad of poses and having fun with this guy. I liked his figure so much that I was posting it all over facebook at the time. Reveal the Shield Jazz has one of the best articulation I've seen in years. Though he had a small waist like most figures, his G1 inspired look and adequate paint job blew my mind away. As a delighted surprise, you could attach his speakers to elongate his weapon. Cool! What I probably didn't care for the most part was his autobot heat labeled "reveal the shield" gimmick. It was old school don't get me wrong, but the nostalgia factor of these labels from the 1984 toys just didn't do much for me. To make matters worse, it was placed on his back, or the roof of his car mode for that matter. If you were familiar with the character, you already knew he was an autobot. That is, unless, if Hasbro goofed up and gave him an decepticon insignia instead.

Conclusion:

Jazz is one astounding figure, arguably the best in his line during the Reveal the Shield days. If you need to start a G1 classics collection, Jazz is a must have. Toodles for now.
