Transformers Studio Series The The Movie Sunstreaker Deluxe Class with Earthrise Sunstreaker plus Nonnef upgrades.

SS13

Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong. Corinthians 16:13

Aloha folks, I am back with another Transformer review. And this time it is Studio Series 86 Sunstreaker. I was on the fence on getting this guy but I felt I needed his accurate anime colors though some parts of him still feel incomplete. So what I think of this guy? Lets get started.

SS01 SS02 SS03 SS04 SS05

I love how the box depicts Sunstreaker with his shoulder missiles/towers but it's not part of the toy unfortunately. That is something I wished that was on this release. You are only given his spoiler as his back possession or weapon. Kinda lame since the 5-pack release gave him one. Since I mentioned that, yes, this SS release is a re-release of that 5 pack. I saw this already happening since we were given a somewhat lackluster release earlier. You know, the one with Hound, Magenta Hot Rod, Scourge, Battle damage Prime and Megatron. All were just re-releases with some mods for some. The description for Sunny's bio is he just just some valiant Autobot warrior. Wish we saw him fight in the movie.

Standing tall

SS06 SS07 SS08 SS10 SS11 SS12 SS13

So this is what was left of my Nonnef upgrades. I lost a few of them while renovating my house a few years ago. So once again, if you want a blaster, an actual wing/spoiler, and the hand cannons, you need to buy upgrades either from Nonnef or Ebay. Either wise, they almost play identical. I won't go into details much again since I did one on the Earthrise version. Although I had issues pegging Er's spoiler for his hand. SS version for mines actually fixes this problem. Also, my ER right arm is fairly loose. Tight for my SS version. So once again, you are pretty much going for a lighter yellow (seems to be more toy colored) or his mustard yellow looking anime-version. There is also a bit more details in the arm areas for SS. I do like the metallic forearms and the black-shaded elbows/biceps. If it wasn't for the Nonnef upgrades, this would had been an ok barebones release.

Once again, I do wish they incorporated his shoulder tower/missiles. Also, it wouldn't hurt to make his chest piece a bit more shield like. It was more slimmer in the actual toon. Once again, this was a lazy re-release of a character I really grew up to like.

SS14 SS15 SS16 SS17 SS18

Pretty easy to transform I still remember. Once again, its cosmetics for the most part in which version you prefer. I do like SS86 overall better. I do like how the metallic forearms become the metal rear wings. The black stripes in the back are a nice touch as well. And with the Nonnef upgrades, this version is even more rock solid! I do like the translucent windows on ER though.

Conclusion

I think SS 86 is the one to get if you are lacking Sunny boy. I do wish they did have the things I wanted him to have. The worst aspect is how they only gave you his spoiler for his weapon when the 5 pack actually gave him a weapon. I mean they couldn't give him the same weapon in this release as well? Well, if you are patient, I say wait till how SS84 turns out. Maybe a better version of him will appear. This one just felt like they milked the mold for the sake of it. Anyhow, Jesus loves you. Turn to him today.
