Transformers Dramatic Capture Series Decepticons Part 2 Four-Pack Part I review (Earthrise Comparison Skywarp)

Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend. Proverbs 27:17

Aloha folks I am back with another TF review. This time it is the Takara Dramatic Capture Series Decepticons 2 Four pack Part I focusing mainly on Skywarp. Without delay, let's get started.

So you have this nice slipcover with the box that house the contents which are Skywarp, the Insecticon trio: Bombshell, Shrapnel, and Kickback. Also in the box are accessories such as (another) Megatron 5mm gun, Shockwave 5mm gun, Reflector camera mode 5mm, some Energon cubes, Insecticon weapons, and a small Soundwave alt mode cube. Once again, the box that came with it is really nice.

Skywarp

DC mainly on the left (lighter purple) vs Earthrise (Darker purple) mainly on right.

I've already done this review years ago with the Earthrise two pack featuring Skywarp and Thundercracker. This set re-uses the ER mode but now painted with G1 anime accurate colors. Imo, the colors work. However, this is the mode that lacks a swivel so your poses are limited. If you liked the ER mold, then this one works wonders as well. They play the same. It now comes down to whether you prefer which color aesthetic you like over the other. I personally do dig the G1 anime-colors. I kinda do like the Matte black on the DC version over ER. They can swap weapons since they are the same minus color issues. The only real change is that Takara used the Thundercracker/Starscream head instead of the open mouth expression the WFC ER version uses.

The problem that now arises is that this is an out dated mold and SS86 Skywarp is set to sail into your homes this coming summer. It's nice for what it is but I got this set mainly for the Insecticons and some of the accessory goodies. But once again I do prefer the DC version if I have to choose one.

Same old same old. Once again, the jet modes look amazing regardless which version you get. I do like the colors once again on DC. It does lack the thrusters SS has.

Reflector and Soundwave accessories

Rumble01DC21

Reflector to be honest feels like a selfie stick. But you can plug it into any 5mm port. Soundwave is best handled with open articulated fingered characters where you can place him in the palm of their hands. The back of mini-wave has these two small cubby holes that mainly smaller characters like Rumble can peg in.

Megatron and Shockwave

DC27

The Megatron gun included here looks much better and is better painted than the SS86 version we got but its lacking a Decepticon insignia. The scope of the handgun can be removed to give it a classic pistol look. The Shockwave gun is nice to have, no qualms. However, the problem with both guns is that they are best handled by closed fist characters. Meaning anyone that has articulate fingers will have trouble gripping them tight. I did find a method with the Megatron gun for characters with articulated fingers. You need to use the trigger finger and place it on par with the trigger part of the gun. It will stay smug for the most part until you move his finger aside. No such luck on Shockwave though. The guns I think were designed mainly for closed fist characters in mind; notably Skywarp since he is part of this set.

Anyhow, that is it for this part. We will see you in the finale that is Part II which is the Insecticons. Ciao and seek Jesus with all your heart.
