Part II

Aloha folks I am back. Sorry for the delay, but my computer Hard Drive crashed and I got sick. On top of that I had to work. I'm still working to recover my old files. Remember to back up your files. A few extra portable hard drives is never too much. Better safe than sorry. Anyhow here is the the Insecticon trio and the rest of the accessories included with the set. I didn't do the gimmicks with the weapons for this review but you can click on the previous Hasbro review links to get an idea. Anyhow, Let's get started.

Kickback (L to R: Hasbro Legacy vs TSpark)

They don't come transformed. I decided to do all that before the shoot. Kickback is the easiest to transform of the 3. Not much steps required honestly. So I am going to elaborate on all 3 characters now. And that is Hasbro's version is based on toy colors while TSpark is based on anime accuracy. In this mode, the only thing lacking is Kickback's Energon blades. I'm not sure why Takara decided to not include it. I've covered the Hasbro versions in the past so I'm not going to cover how well the quality or how well they play because it's identical for both versions except for paint differences and the missing Energon blades. However, you can put the blades on Tspark if you choose to which I did include a shoot on the last pic here. I do like TSparks wings where its painted in silver now covering the translucent area that Hasbro had. Translucent parts tend to really upset most collectors and this version should bring a smile for those that detest translucency. More of what I think on the upcoming robot mode portion.

Shrapnel ( L to R: TSpark vs Hasbro Legacy Evolution)

Same here anime vs toy colors. Fairly easy to transform too. Just paint app differences. Nothing missing here.

Bombshell ( L to R: TSpark vs Hasbro Legacy Evolution)

Likewise. Just paint differences again. Overall, I think he is the tougher of the 3 to transform to this mode though its not challenging tough. Just it takes a little longer than the 3. Still fairly easy imo.

Energon Segment

I think this is where the Energon segment works wonder. They give you 6 small cubes and two big ones. One of the big ones have a crooked line going towards the middle. I think this was to make holding the cube easier for some figures. I could be wrong but its there. Shrapnel does the best here because he can use his pinchers to hold onto the cubes. Kickback's gun which is housed below his chest can help hold the energon goodie. Have fun.

Bombshell

Possibly one of the reasons why I wanted this set. I simply wanted his grey anime color scheme. He looks, imo, the most different of the 3. TSparks uses more of a duller grey paint especially in the face area while Legacy uses a really darker grey scheme. The blacks on TSpark is more matte finish while the Legacy is darker. There are also red stripes on Legacy's heels while there is a yellow coloring for the shoulder blades on Tspark. The gun color almost looks similar but I feel Legacy is a little darker. A smidge darker. I actually like both figures here.

Shrapnel

As for Shrappie, purples are lighter on Tspark and greys are darker on Legacy. The yellow chest piece looks a little darker on Legacy as well. There is also the blue area on top of Legacy. The Tspark version looks a little too plain. It also doesn't help that his gun and blades are now colored the same shade of purple. It blends in with his arm a little too much. Then again the blades are same shade for Hasbro's but his silver gun does stand out whereas Tsparks looks like an elongated hook. I always felt both versions felt so simple. Especially the design but I think Hasbro is a little better here with the extra details though I prefer the lighter purple.

So you got the same shade of purple used here as they did for Tsparks Shrapnel. Imo, this is the one where I can definitely say I prefer Tsparks. First of all, the grey culd-del-sac head of Legacy always bugged me ( no pun intended). It looked like he was balding. The anime accuracy really fixes this and it looks more consistent now with the matte like colors. His yellow antennas are painted more yellow than the faded version of Hasbro. The chest is darker on Tsparks one was well. And the wings do look better in silver. Don't get me wrong, I have a soft spot still for Hasbro's one but I think this one is where Takara takes the cake. Hasbro's gun is a mixed of darker silver plus purple while Tsparks is plain silver. And yes, Tsparks can fully utilize the Energon blades from that of Legacy.

You can swap weapons between the two versions for all 3 figures. Remember it's the same molds with different paint apps.

Bonus: Insecticon train

Thanks to the missing Energon blades,  slight modifications was needed to do Tsparks version. Also, I don't know why but Shrapnel's gun for Tspark does not fit Bombshell's head cannon. The Hasbro version doesn't fit either. I don't know if Takara decided to fix this but its something that wasn't in need of fixing if it is really true. So instead I had to place Tsparks gun on Bombshells thighs.

Conclusion:

So overall, this is a nice treat for those who didn't get the Legacy versions or if you prefer the ER mold of Skywarp. The extra accessories are nice to have. If the Insecticons showcased here are going to be reused for the 86 mold, then consider me lucky that I don't have to wait for them anymore. Skywarp is the only mold here for me that is filler since I'm getting the upcoming SS version. But he is here in his anime colors. So once again, do you prefer toy or anime colors? They all play great and got all that waist swivel, tight joints, yada yada as I mentioned in the Legacy reviews. So it all boils down to cosmetics or if your want to build a seeker/Insecticon clone army. Toodles and Jesus still loves you. Seek him today.
