What good is Red Alert without his buddy Inferno? If you are a G1 fanatic then you know the history between them. For starters, long story cut short, they had each others back as both of them were pretty much fire rescue... can't believe I'm using that word. Red Alert is more security administrative but he helps fight fires nonetheless. Inferno, however, was more battle prone, always eager to fight rather than stand on the sidelines. Red at one point was injured during a sneak Decepticon attack and suffered paranoia, thinking that the autobots wanted to deactivate him. Not to mention, he thought Inferno betrayed him when Inferno left his side to help Optimus Prime in battle. Later on, Red befriended Starscream though the latter easily betrayed him to side with Megatron again. The autobots came to Red's aid and Inferno saved Red from an impending explosion from the Negavator, a weapon that Starscream and Red intended to use to destroy anyone that stood in their way before Starscream's turncoat. After Inferno saved Red, Red Alert no longer doubted Inferno's loyalty. The two had become inseparable ever since.
Without further delay: Red Alert's buddy Inferno.
Boxing:
That is one neat looking box. I got this used from seller in Oregon who sold it to me back in 2011 roughly for $40 shipped. I was lucky for Inferno went as high as $70 at that moment. And we are only speaking the hasbro release and not Henkei. I love how even for used, the seller kept the packaging nice and sturdy.
Alt mode: Fire truck
What's the 401? OK bad joke. At first I though it was a random number they decided to put on the vehicle till internet sources pointed out that the 401 is the area code for Rhode Island-- the home of Hasbro headquarters. Neat. The fire truck is looking totally tubular (Turtle talk). Looking good so far. I like how the water canon sits on top of the truck. Alright, lets look at his robot mode.

So once again what good is Red Alert without his buddy Inferno. Inferno looks spectacular no doubt. Its a voyager mold that I feel every classics owner should get. Inferno does feel very loose at times. His legs feel very shaky if you play with them but its also possible that he had been worn down a little because I bought him used. His water canon is fun to play with because you can eject the blue missile as a projectile literally. No explosions will occur, suffice to say. Good old trigger spring launcher to sum this weapon up. For G1 enthusiasts, his robot mode is slightly disappointing due to the fact he is missing his head guard/w wings, arm cannon, and mini turret next to his head guard. This was rectified with third party help by a supplier named Maiden Japan. Sadly, he produced a few of these and disappeared shortly afterwards. I never got a chance to purchase these. Here are some samples from other toy collectors that did.

Henkei! Henkei! Inferno differs from Universe Inferno mainly in the red plastic used: whereas Universe Inferno has a darker shade of red, Henkei Inferno is considerably brighter. The dark brown plastic used for several parts on Universe Inferno has been changed to gray. The black parts on Universe Inferno are now dark blue and the colorless clear plastic used for his eyes is actually molded in clear blue plastic (rather than being painted over clear blue). Major paint application changes include chroming Inferno's water cannon, forearm panels, and the backs of his shoulder panels. Aside from the chrome he also has the addition of yellow highlights to his head, clear-red painted sirens, and the removal of the Rhode Island "401" area code.
