Transformers Classics Retrospective look! Transformers Robots in Disguise Classics Deluxe Mirage (2006)

By the time I jumped on the CHUG (Classics, Henkei, Universe, Generations) line, I pretty much missed the boat on the Universe and original Classics line. So in order to get some of these figs, I had to go on Ebay or solicit fellow TF fans on unwanted TF figures. The Henkei Mirage (Ligier in Japan) was going for a walloping $50+ at the time, so my only option was to hopefully get the Classics at a cheaper price. Thankfully, I did. Someone was selling Universe Mirage for $25 used. Take note that Universe Mirage was also the first figure I bought out of the box. Let's get started.

Alt Mode:

A fairly decent and great updated look at the G1 figure. Let's give Mirage a hand for it was him who stopped the Decepticons from leaving earth in the original "More than meets the eyes" 3-part episode. However, this updated version has him sponsoring the Witwickys on his wing tail; Sparkplug to be exact. Like usual,  the Henkei version has chrome on his tail and front bumper which is actually his weapon in robot mode.

Robot mode:

So not bad at all. I do find it a little awkward that he has his wheels sticking out above his head. Though if one was to look, they can tell it is Mirage indeed. He has his rub sign on the left of his leg though he is missing his shoulder cannon which was eventually rectified by Fansproject's G3 trailer  set. The only problems with my figure was that Mirage's head was really loose. I'm not sure if it came that way or the previous owner fiddled with him so much that he lost his grease or something. As for his weapon, I wished his figure did come with an actual gun.

Alas, here is the link to the Henkei version which is actually a more faithful adaption of the G1 look and colors. I love the blue better on Henkei but for $25 I couldn't go wrong with the Classics Version.

And last

Whatever contents I had left from the seller.

Overall, he is a must have for your classics collection. He is a little skinny but he is all there is for chug collectors. He was expensive then and hopefully the demand for him as died down. He is fairly easy to transform so you shouldn't be having too much difficulty toying around with him. Eventually, they re-released him as an Autobot threepack which was an Asian-exclusive release. Oh well. Thanks for reading once again. Have a nice day!
