Next up: Swerve and Flanker! Once again no idea who is the latter. And to save time, he is pretty much a triple changer like Payload: Robot mode, Alt mode, and gun. Had to get Swerve because he did appear in two episodes briefly in season 3 of G1. Yes, two episodes only! Yeesh! Trust me, it only gets worse from here. What I'd mean? Find out when I review Tailgate next time! Without further delay, here is Swerve out of the box... with Flanker of course.
Not bad, I think he looks great for Legends size. The only drawback is that he can't swivel his head like most figures can these days. He can only look up or down. So you are pretty much limited when it comes to head posing. Otherwise, every other limb articulation is fantastic, you bend his legs, his arms, and then his legs again... you get what I mean.
Swerve with Guns!
Yeah, the head not moving left or right is a bummer for me. So I didn't do much with this guy, other then looking at that smirk of his. Flanker turns into a neat cannon, so there is your consolation on the pose part. Flanker can be stored on his back making it look like a Gatling gun ready for firearm disposal. Neat.
Swerve Alt Mode
Special guest star: Payload! Don't get any dirty ideas by those pics. I did my best. Any how, Swerve turns into a nice looking mini-truck. Easy to transform and so was Flanker for that matter. Like his robot mode, you can use his back ( the roof) to use Flanker as a weapon. Neato!
Flanker!
So Flanker is an easy transformation as well. You might have some difficulty changing to his gun mode, but that is pretty much the instruction manual is there for. I admit that I like him easily the best out of Payload and Groundbuster (Tailgate's partner). Like Payload, these figures don't have much articulation. He is a add-on for Swerve and nothing too much more. Can't turn his head too. Ugh! Yeah, I'm picky.
Conclusion: As I write this, Swerve and Tailgate will get their Takara release soon. Swerve sports darker red colors matching his G1 look more faithfully. I'm content with the Hasbro release as long as they didn't make it Joker colors like they did Universe Megatron. Any how, besides my complaints, Swerve is a nice mini-bot addition to your classics. He looks great there is no denying that, that alone I will tell you to get him while you can.
