Today's Bible Quote is inspired by Republic Cinema . RC also reviews TF and display Bible quotes before each review.

I am back with another Transformer review. I walked into a Wal-Mart and saw this version of Seaspray for $15. He retails techincally for $25 but my Wal-Mart here in Honolulu charges and extra arm and a leg for almost everything so don't expect cheap prices when it comes to brand new TF toys. But he was being discounted and I noticed he looks a whole lot different to the actual G1 toy, so I decided to give it a go. So how does he fare? Let's get started!

Card

So SSpray comes in the very simple reminiscent G1 trading card wrapped in a simple plastic box that comes with his guns and instruction booklet. You can get even see his warrior stats in the back of the box. Good old times. Don't mind my card for it was creased when i found it and it was the only one left.

So Walmart is now releasing these exclusive TF figures that are inspired by their G1 toys. The thing about this Seaspray figure is that it's mostly the head that is G1 toy inspired. Everything else is pretty much a new mold for the figure. Just like how there is a retro-Brawn G1 figure. It has Brawn's G1 toy head but the rest of the body is the same mold they used for his 86 iteration.

Since I got that out of the way, SSpray is a fun figure. He is nicely done. He has joints, head and waist swivel . Zoiks on the latter. But like I said, this is a retro inspired figure so it's not the actual G1 toy mold they used here. His propellers on top of his head can spin, he can do an array of poses and the one thing I felt really improved over the G1 figure was his feet. In the original toy I remember owning, the feet was the entire front bumper plastered together. It was this big lump and that was it. Here that bumper splits apart and dudes got feet.

Besides using his gun for dramatic purposes, his gun is actually housed on the left side of his head. You peg his weapon on that circular looking spot ( Look at the intro pic or alt mode for an example). You can also peg his weapon in some 5 mm ports but it may not fit the way you want and most likely have to peg it in awkward positions. You can peg it in the back, but you need to lift that back flap up first before you can do so. By doing that though, you won't be able to put the flap back in entirely. No biggie though. I also did wish his hands were big enough for him to grasp the magazine portion of the gun, but it's there to look nice and that is it.

Last but least, I really wish they put his Autobot insignia on his front chest. I get it that this is the modern take on the G1 toy which didn't have the insignia there either, but you already came this far, why stop there?

Naval action

This is SSprays alt mode. It is not a simple transformation like his G1 toy. It did take me some time in how to put the arms in but here he is. Your modern take on the naval warrior until Hasbro re-releases the toon accurate version some day.  Fun looking mode to be honest. Maybe I just got sick and tired of transforming cars and planes.

Scale wise for those who are interested

So Seaspray is pretty much a deluxe class figure. Definitely not the minibot that was his G1 toy.

Conclusion

If you need a SSpray to be in your modern TF/86 collection, this retro version does the job nicely. Like I said earlier, He is your up to date SSpray with joints and swivel until they release a toon version of him. Which I probably prefer since most of my figures are more closely aligned to the toon versions. I wish he had his Autobot insignia on his front chest but for a figure sold for $15, I can't complain much. He is also deluxe size so that is a steal. Jesus loves you. See you next time.
