After a brief hiatus, I am back with some TF photography. This time we look at the upgrades for Earthrise Sunstreaker, Smokescreen and 86 Grimlock. Without anymore delay, let's get started!
Sunstreaker w/ Metallic Silver
Finally, Streaker is armed. The barebones release Hasbro allowed led people to scouring the web for additional weapons. Thankfully, some companies such as Nonnef came through for the fans. In this review pack, Sunstreaker undoubtedly got the best of the upgrades. For the metallic reveal, he was given a rifle, a handcannon, and spoilers. The pics explain everything. Streaker is ready for battle. The only quibbles I have here is that the metallic paint can strip fairly easy. Look at the last pic here in this category. Some of the paint has dribbled into his shoulder stack hole. Also for this set, his riser, which can house his spoiler was sold on the non-metallic sets. So I had to spend a little more dough for extras.
Grey set with the 3mm pegs and riser.
Pegs (something sticking out)
Top portion: grey, Bottom: metallic
The new features here were the riser which can be used as extenders for his hind legs (or wherever there is a 5mm port) or leg fillers. The pegs addition on his shoulder stacks is a nice touch. However, for robot mode: the risers, spoilers, and pegs are a simple novelty.
Alt mode
Pegs in
Looking good here. The riser really brings some character to this alt mode. I love the presentation here. The peg can stay in with the shoulder which transforms into the bottom portion of his alt mode. Very novel once again.
The grey set
If you detest the way the riser looks, you can place the pegs instead (you don't need to actually, the spoiler will fit in the 5mm holes though it may not look so great). However, this is where I really didn't like the 3mm peg. The set comes with 6 of these and I only used 3. The pegs sometimes may not stay in place and if you apply pressure into the 5mm holes, they may get stuck resulting in you using a very small flathead screwdriver to flick them out. At first, I had none at where I was so I attempted to use small appliances to pluck or force them out. I ended up stripping some of the pegs. So lesson here is to have a very small screwdriver just in case or don't bother using them. The riser works better, looks immaculate, and is more user friendly.
Smokescreen
Smokescreen looks more like..... Smokescreen of his G1 fame! Love the shoulder cannons and love how he comes with his masterpiece-like rifle. Smokescreen is ready for combat as well.
Alt mode w/Sunstreaker
Looking spry here for the two. What I didn't show previously was the ability to place weapons in front of Streakers engine. Be careful that you most likely will be stripping paint of the metallic gun since its a pretty tight fit. You can only put one of the gun/handcannon combo here.
Grimlock both robot and alt mode
Probably the most simple upgrade of them all. He has a sword. I didn't get his crown, extra teeth, or clear chest piece because all I needed was the sword. Sword looks great for Grimmy.
Final pics
Yes, they can swap weapons.
Okay, joking aside.
Conclusions
So Streaker captured my attention the most here due to his array of weaponry and parts placements. The drawback as I mentioned is that the metallic color does strip off fairly easy so be mindful here and if you are willing to stain your figure in that sense. Smokescreen's shoulder stack cannons are a welcome visual and addition. Grimlock's add-on is as simple as a it gets. And lucky Windcharger for getting a weapon upgrade as well. Nonnef.com is where it is at. Take care folks. Jesus loves you.
