Boxing and content
The contents were packaged neatly for this two-pack release, but what made this part stand out imo was the G1 reimagining a few segments of Transformers the movie (1986) in the Rodimus vs Cyclonus comic that was bundled in here. The comic was made to sell more RTS/Generations figures such as Grapple, Lugnut, Tracks, Rumble and Frenzy (who were eventually canceled in the U.S. release though thank God for Takara releasing them in the United line), and a few others, the comic was a good read. Look it up online, you find more of your answers there.
Hot Rod and Cyclonus alt mode
At the time, I had to get a Hot Rod figure since I missed out on the Henkei/Universe version at the time. Not only that but I needed a Cyclonus figure. Imo, though Hot Rod looks decent in this release, Cyclonus was the man needed for this release. I liked his dark purple color which was almost similar to his cartoon look. I was not digging the light purple in the Henkei release nor his black colored counterpart in the Universe release. Cyclonus also comes with Nightstick, his targetmaster partner. Both figures sport heat-rub signatures giving tribute back to the G1 toy days. Sadly, the RTS line was very short-lived. The 2 pack also came with a metallic colored matrix.

| The saw from the movie! |
What you got here is a good representation of both classic characters. Hot Rod here is supposed to, from what I heard, resemble his movie look. I wish the Matrix would had been colored properly but since we are getting a two deal special, I'm not going to really complain. At the time, if you were looking for both characters, then the two pack battle in space figures were a steal! Today we are heading to more masterpiece or the upcoming Power of the Prime figures where we have an upcoming Rodimus Prime figure that looks promising to TF fans.
