Hiking with God in Oahu: Koko crater (aka kohelepelepe) natural arch 6/12/16

There are two sides to the story, or mountain for that matter. Arguably the most popular hike or workout is the Koko head stairs of doom. The The next one which is on another side of Koko head is the Koko crater natural arch. I got the day off so me and my friend, KG decided to hike the Arch. It's located near and adjacent to the Halona Blowhole. Since we went at 5AM, side parking was very easy to find. Just be careful in crossing the street. Play it safe folks. When we got to the area, we ended up hiking down the bushes area, but we backtracked when we found out we were getting nowhere. Near the entrance, after you cross the fence, just climb up the black lava like rocks and you will be on your way.

It was a little easy to find because there were already hikers by the arch. Its gets a little steep as you get to the arch so be careful. Just always play it safe as I said. Bring good shoes with good traction (hiking shoes preferred), water, gloves (optional but comes in handy if you no like get dirty), and camera (for pics). Praying to God never ceases to help.

Some more pics.

We had the place all to ourselves for some ample time to practice our photography. It started to drizzle a little but God turned off the rain short after. We tried to scale the top of the arch but I couldn't do it because I kept slipping. If I do come back, I will try invest in hiking shoes. A trio came by shortly but only one of them was brave enough to get to the top. The other two told him they weren't Spider-man and opted out. Haha. I felt the same too when I had to get back down. Not to mention my left leg was hurting a little because I did fall on my butt at one point. It was good to play it safe like I said. Next time.

Not much from this point on. You can either hike up to the Koko Head stairs though it looks really steep from this point on. Next time on this one too as we made our way back down.

A God-given rainbow.
The Arch as we headed down.

We stopped by the blowhole just to chill for a bit before putting the engine in reverse and went to Koko Head Cafe. My first time there as I had the Chicky and Eggs.

That was the adventure for the day. Lots of prayers to God who made this day feasible. See you all next time.
