Transformers Generations Leader Class Jetfire review! (2014)

So this is why you shouldn't make a hasty decision in investing in a voyager class Jetfire/Skyfire because here is Generations Leader Class Jetfire!  And you thought that it couldn't get any bigger. Also in the background is http:www.toyhax.com's Cyberscape back drop which I will get to a little more in detail after.  Let's get started!

Looking impressive. There is an advertisement for Roadbuster who is canon in the G1 comic continuity. He is part of Springer's wreckers. Yes, I have the figure since I thought anyone that sides with Springer is awesome. I got him for $20 so not bad. Now for robot mode. There will also be some comparisons to the Henkei Voyager Skyfire version.

Jetfire is looking smooth. His joints are very tight so you don't have to worry about him being wobbly. He stands up fine in comparison to the Henkei version. You can play with his guns and attachments on his arms and the side of his shin. You can combine them all to form a gigantic weapon. The neat thing about this figure is that his weapons including his thruster is encased in shiny chrome.

The negative thing, however, is that parts of the chrome was already chipped. To make matters worse, as I played around with his weapon, some of the chrome started to chip off as well. You can see it for yourself on the pics with close-up of his weapons. His main gun is a missile launcher and the missile fires fairly far so be careful when handing his launcher, because it is very easy to accidentally push the button as you are configuring his weapon.

Leader Class vs Voyager (Henkei) Robot Mode.

When it comes to robot mode, I personally like Leader class better. . Leader class Jetfire has more of the G1 looks in robot mode- his face especially.  His helmet in Henkei was easy to remove while I tussled a little with the Leader class. The Henkei version is dwarfed in this version though he still looks awesome with his wide array of weapons. They can also switch weapons with each other.

Transform! (Vehicle mode)

Too much Chrome! Nah, it looks good. His vehicle mode looks more like a raptor jet than the cargo jet we grew up in the G1 series. However, the paint and structure pays homage to the original G1 toy. Like his robot mode, you can place missiles and his launcher in various places. Be careful to not rub off the chrome, remember.

Voyager (Henkei) vs Leader Class vehicle mode:

Well, Leader Class vehicle mode resembles more of the G1 toy while Voyager is more faithful to the G1 cartoon adaption. I think both are great. I like Voyager' s style a little better. Yeah, I know the Cockpit glass can open on the leader class. I don't care much about the vehicle modes though I can tell you that Leader class was much more difficult to transform than the Voyager version.

Summary:

Both run about the same at $40 and above. Henkei has re-released their version recently though it no longer features chrome on the afterburners. During Black Friday and Cyber-Monday, Leader Class Jetfire dropped as low as $28. So it's your pick though I would say Leader Class is the way to go since he is more up to date. As I write this, in a few weeks, Japan will release their Generations version of Jetfire, but instead he will fall under the category of Transformers Legends. The Japanese version will feature more detailed paint in some areas and no chrome. Weird, huh? Usually, its the Japanese that has a fascination with Chrome and not Hasbro. Oh well.

Bonus review: Toyhax Cyberscape Backdrop quickie.

Long story cut short. Http://www.toyhax.com, who are also responsible for making Reprolabels, made custom backdrops for your shelf decorations or photo shoots. The price varies depending on  size you choose. The price ranges anywhere from $10-35 plus an additional $1.50 per tile. I bought the largest backdrop for the Cyberscape backdrop and it came a week later bent in some areas. I contacted customer service and ended up getting a replacement( on its way as I write this). The quality of the product is great and my only gripe besides it coming damaged was that I wish they construct something bigger for figures like Maketoys Giant, Hasbro/Takara Titan Metroplex and so forth. But it is mainly for display for your shelf figures I understand. The artwork is fantastic and I give major props to who ever designed this on their website. Lot's of effort was put into this I can tell. Anyone reading this that got their products bent, just contact their customer service. Very friendly,  reliable and ships you a new one with no fuss.

The drawback for most people is the price and I can't argue with them here. It took some hardwork to make these but $35 for a backdrop I agree that not everyone will accept that price. Nevertheless, don't forget to check the site out. The auto bases look really nice. I would had got it had I not owned Decepticon figures. There is also other backdrops for other toy collectors such as TMNT, HE-MAN, G.I. JOE and etc... Maybe someday they will all go cheap. And then I will get more. If you got the money, then go for it. For now, enjoy.
