Batman: Mask of the Phantasm 25th anniversary theatrical re-release quickie!

Movie was viewed on November 12, 2018 in Regal Cinemas Dole Cannery. There were 14 slides of facts and trivia before the movie started. Here are a two slides I putted up plus a shot I took of the movie.

Disclaimer: Batman: Mask of the Phantasm is the property of DC comics/Warner Bros studios. I am only using the above clips or review for entertainment purposes. No profit is intended nor is this site affiliated with DC/Warner bros.

I decided to just view this on the big screen since I never did. A good movie still to this very date. But I'll get to the theater experience right now:

-Suffers the same picture and sound quality like Transformers the movie re-release. Picture is grainy and was probably the dvd release rather then the blu-ray remaster. The sound was very low quality as well. The awe-inspiring church choir parts (the intro, Birth of Batman, Joker's fate, and ending theme) were very underwhelming.

- Not the movie's fault but the theater had only 15 people and it was shown in a very big screen. My Transformers movie showing was in a smaller screen but 85% filled. There are two showings of MOTP in my area: I have a feeling the 7pm showing will be more packed. Probably would had been a better experience.

- Because the movie was shown in 1.85:1 aspect ratio, the matte lines (black bars) on the side were annoying at times. To simply put it, it felt like I was watching full-screen or the theater I was in didn't utilize the entire screen.

There you have it folks. Just a few complaints here and there in an otherwise outstanding film. Later folks and Jesus bless.

Wiliwilinui 2018!

Thank you Gary for this pic
At long last, the sister hikes are finally completed! I tamed Kuliouou and Hawaii Loa last year. Finally the circle is now complete as Wiliwilinui has been thrown into the fray. Let's get started!

*Hike was done on the 6th of November*

Rained the previous day so the hike was pretty muddy and slippery. I hiked with Gary who was visiting from Washington state. I slipped quite a bit on this trail. Lots of stairs 3/4's toward the end. I personally feel there was more stairs on this hike in comparison to the other sister hikes. The trail being muddy, wet, and slippery didn't help either. Some area will have ropes for you to climb up or down.

The summit:

The summit gets smaller and smaller if you go from Kuliouou > Hawaii Loa > Wiliwilinui in that order; bigger vice versa. Sky was pretty overcast so you had to wait a bit for the clouds to clear just to get some nice views. By the time you hit the communications tower the summit is just nearby. Anyhow, thank God I survived that hike. Had pizza at Pieology afterwards. It's actually a pretty long hike overall. Anyhow, take care folks and go with Jesus.

Bandai Action Base black stand: Featuring some Transformers.

Aloha folks. It's been awhile since I did something with my figures. I've still got a whole lot of TF toys to open and review, but work and another part of life makes it difficult for me to do so. Tonight, insomnia got the best of me so I decided to play with a base stand I bought a while back. Today I do a brief review on the Bandai Hobby Action Base 1 display stand. With it, you can deliver the impression that your Gundam figures are flying and duking it out with other rivals while suspended in mid-air, perhaps re-creating a memorable dramatic scene you saw in the anime. But since I don't own Gundam figures, I will test out this stand with none other than my TF figures. So what you see is what you get.

The above link is the how the packing looks like. I did a take pic but it didn't come out well with all the glare in place. I just decided to include a link and if you are impressed then you can buy it after.

Yep, assembly is required. Took me nearly half hr to 45 mins to assemble this stand. It's fairly easy if you follow the instructions but boy this took some time. Comes with three different holders based on your Gundam figure. Since my figures aren't Gundam, I'm already unable to use what I call the screw on holder and the pincher holder. I could only use the one that resembles a four way "Y" holder. I like to call it the fork. It comes in three different sizes each differing in width. The unit holding the fork is adjustable and can be extended a few inches giving your character some decent height and hang time. Now on with our first character.

Slugslinger guest starring Stepper.

I originally wanted to use Starscream but I had some difficulty using the forks on him though I was only using one size at the time. I gave up on using Screamer and utilized Slugslinger instead. I have to admit it looks neat to finally do some decent photography on flying TF's. The only drawback is that the stand can be fairly wobbly and your character (Slugslinger in this case) could spiral out of control due to how light the stand can be as opposed to the weight of your character. In an other words the fork can and will get loose at times. Due to TF characters not having the same anatomy as the Gundam figures, you had to find an opening for you to put the fork in. The fork will fit his buttock area whereas Starscream was nearly impossible.  What makes the action base stand impressive, providing that you can do the poses, is posing the character on alt mode. Look at the pics and tell me that Slugslinger doesn't look awesome flying! Only drawback is weight again which can cause your character to fall off or even cause the extender port to fall off completely.

However, another test character proved to be fairly tough: Next we have Cyclonus guest starring Galvatron!

I thought Cyclonus be a perfect fit for this category, but you can see how limited the aerial poses he had for this part. First off, the only way to have him fly decently in the air is to use the fork and shove it up his... or should I say ride it up his crotch area. And sadly, it doesn't grip on that well in comparison to Slugslinger. For his alt mode, I had to fork one of his feet and yet it still does not hold too well. Not to mention, if you shake the unit a bit, he already falls off. I tried a Superman pose with him but he kept crashing down. Moving on.

Conclusion: At this point I kinda gave up. It's a huge trial and error for every character. Some characters like Slugslinger works decently while it's a letdown on Cyclonus. I'll probably play around with this stand using other figures down the road, but for now, just a have a nice day folks. I would avoid this if you are using non-Gundam figures.

For the week Beginning Sept 23rd ending October 6, 2018; Transformers the Movie Sept 27th one night only event!

Aloha folks. I saw the 1986 one night only Transformers: The Movie special. You get a free poster per person; Its the same artwork as the blu-ray release. The screen wasn't the biggest but was adequate enough. You get a couple trivia questions prior to the movie. What was also featured was an exclusive BumbleBee trailer and a Stan Bush Acoustic version of Dare and The Touch to the fans at the end of the film. I recorded some clips on my phone but due to possible copyright issues, I will not be displaying them on this site. Look for it on Youtube. It was a nice tribute to the fans.

As for the movie itself, sometimes I felt the audio could use some work. It was decent but i wasn't really blown by it's intensity. The picture sometimes looked grainy for I heard they were using the 20th anniversary remastered release instead of the blu-ray release. Picture felt a little too cropped at times as well. Anyhow, it was still a nice experience. It was a big turnout which pretty much amazed me.

Wailana Coffee House 10/1/18.

Reason I posted this was because Wailana is closing its doors on the 14th of Oct 2018. Sad to see it go as it was one of the few establishments that still featured 24hr dining. Good luck to those that will lose their jobs. Hope they got something waiting for them after the doors shut tight forever.

Maunawili Falls 2018!

Me and my buddy Kev decided to do this hike. Have to admit, I wasn't keen on doing this hike but I was pretty impressed by the result at the end. Not to mention, it was good cardio. Here are some pics. Enjoy!

This bird was singing... no lie.

It was very muddy so be careful. Swim at your own risk. About a 2 hr roundtrip. Have a nice day folks and thank Jesus that me and Kevin didn't get hurt. Make sure you wear shoes with good grip and traction and bring mosquito repellent. Lots of Mosquitoes here, I kid you not. We ate at Kono's in Kailua afterwards.
