I thought I did something a little different today rather than reviewing figures. One thing that often bogged my mind was how the animation in the original Transformers series took a serious dive after Transformers the movie (1986). Akom was the company responsible for animating most of the season thereafter and the quality really shows; Carnage in C-Minor, anyone? However, amid a series of poor animating lies a few decent and superb animated episodes. Despite the lackluster season 3, it was a breath of fresh air to see awesome quality animation I'm about to discuss about, usually done by Toei. Let's get started!
Season 3
Episode 6 : The Killing Jar
Episode 7 : Chaos
A fairly good episode that gives Kup his moment to shine. Features a no-faced Predaking for the entire show.
Episode 9: Starscream's Ghost
Too bad the follow-up: Ghost in the Machine wasn't in the same quality.
Episode 12: Surprise Party
Episode 15: Fight or Flee
One of the better episodes imo. Sometimes you have to fight even if you don't want to.
Episode 16: Webworld
The episode that addresses Galvatron's insanity but also is uncanny in many ways.
Episode 18: The Dweller in the Depths
Transformers version of Zombies.
Episode 19: Nightmare Planet
Not the best animated but visuals are still better than anything Akom.
Episode 20: The Ultimate Weapon
One of my favorites of this season. Rodimus Prime finding his confidence.
Episode 23: Only Human
Very nice for the G.I. Joe/Transformer crossover.
Episode 25: Money is Everything
Episode 26: Call of the Primitives
Voted in miles the best animated episode of all season 3. I can see why. It's amazing!
Episode 27: The Burden Hardest to Bear
Rodimus having issues as leader again. Scourge getting the spotlight. Better than Akom but contrast looks so dark that was my only issue with this episode.
Episode 29&30: The Return of Optimus Prime 1&2
Honestly, it would had been a travesty to had both episodes animated Akom style. Glad to see TROOP in good quality.
Final words: Honestly, about half the season had pretty good quality animation especially top notch ones like Chaos, Call of the Primitives, Return of Optimus Prime 2 and so forth. But Akom made the other half and it was simply too hard to look the other way. That's how most people remember season 3 thanks to that half. Would had been nice if most of the season was animated by Toei like they did season 1 and 2. Jesus loves you. Take care.
Aloha folks, welcome to the 400th post of this blog and today's feature is none other than the Autobot leader Studio series 86 Optimus Prime. Without delay, let's get started! Boxing and Contents You get this nice artwork of OP springing into action after he runs over Thrust and Shrapnel. You get a backdrop of this scene and you get the weapon/laser/blast effects along with his trailer, roller, drone and the awesome looking rifle of his. Figure also included. "Our Leader is back" Initially, I wasn't too impressed with how the internet displayed his window colors. It look like the typical light blue we've been introduced to countless of times. Now having the figure up close, I like the darker metallic blue the figure displays. I wasn't a big fan of his white color thighs as I usually deal with his grey colored adaptations, but I got used to it. You get his battle axe from his More than Meets the Eye episode so that is ...
At long last, after a year of no Transformer toy review. A Transformer has crash landed amid this blog: Transformers Legacy United Cosmos! Box Art and Contents I thought it was hilarious his gun and flag came in a sandwich like wrapper. That's a nice side panel design though I have no idea who most of those Transformers are. Standing Tall Cosmos is a thing of a beauty. Nicely designed and well handled. Poses very well. Has a waist swivel surprisingly. Honestly, from the first glance, it didn't look like he had one. Cosmos is probably the first TF that you will have fun posing him with a flag rather than a war weapon. UFO Also probably the only Transformer in history to have a somewhat awkward mode: UFO style! Not complaining. You were probably sick and tired of playing with all those cars and planes at this point right? Any how, you can see that he is the size of your palm roughly. Fairly easy transformation mode that my nephew could do it wi...
Aloha folks, I am back with another TF review. This time it is Legacy United Gears. I had him a while back but I opened him up last month when I was on my trip to the Big Island of Hawaii but never had the time to complete the pics, editing, and review until now. Without further delay, let's get started! Boxing I'm not sure why his chest piece comes separate. I thought it was possibly to prevent theft as Transformers wiki seems to feel the same way. You can't use it as a shield or anything but it is used as a homage to which I get to in the next category. Gears comes tied in a generic backdrop Hasbro tend to use these days in which I tend to toss afterwards. If it was done in the 86 studio series caliber, I definitely keep it. Comes with his blaster as well. Gears ( Big Island of Hawaii hotel pics) So this is the figure in a jiff. I always thought he looked like some kind of cog like machine probably hence the name Gears. I found it awkward at fi...
