"Does anyone else attempt to fill his shoes?" Galvatron: Transformers movie
Boxing/Contents
Galvatron in the flesh! Comes with a chain-in-Matrix from the 1986 film which he held onto until Hot Rod broke the chains off his neck and became Rodimus Prime. The card I received was none other than his former glory and shell: Megatron!
Behold! Galvatron
| You will do my bidding! |
Here is Galvatron with an assorted amount of weapons. He comes with his trademark transparent orange cannon. Besides the chain-n-Matrix attachment, he also comes with two mini guns that resemble the ship Unicron gave him in the movie. Both can be attached together to form a large gun. They can also be pegged in any 5mm port or on his back. He is possibly the only figure so far to come with battle damage in the Kingdom line, something that was seen mainly in WFC: Siege. You see it all over his purple paint and you do see some dirt on his ankle area as well. He looks good, joints are tight. Posing is above average though I did find some difficulty making his legs do decent poses for the camera; he just kept slipping off. He has a waist swivel for those that do care. He has two pegs on both his arms, one being more centered on his bicep area and one directly below. I feel it looks better on the bicep area though it can get pretty loose. The forearm peg snaps in a whole lot better. So you win some and lose some.
So my version came with some purple blemishes under his right eye. It's most likely a factory defect but it still makes a neat battle damage impression. Also on the 2nd pic here, I made a reference to the two Galvatrons sold out in the market. Most copies earlier came with a incorrect shoulder placement. This version is the correct shoulder placement though I did buy one back in July and it was the incorrect shoulder version so I shipped it back to Amazon. The difference is that his left arm is lower than the right arm. That was how most original copies came out in the beginning. Most people rectified the situation by either taking the shoulders apart though you can cause stress if not done right, or they simply flipped the arms backwards, but by doing so you see the pin facing out which was just a jarring to look at. The correct one (right side) reaches about 1/8 the shoulder stacks.

Alt mode
I feel like any iteration of Galvatron is difficult to play with. No exception here. Really had to use instructions here. Upon getting here, its a mixed bag. I liked that he is a cannon once again but I can't help but feel it is not too impressive looking. My right leg (which is the arms in robot mode), never could snap in good so therefore he would always slide out. You can modify the legs to give it a degree of angle look, but like I said, his right leg wouldn't peg in good so it just made this mode okay-ish at best. His legs is now designed to look like a tank so its a win for those who prefer Tank Megatron and so forth. Stick the additional weapons where you want to.
Scourge and Cyclonus
| Bow before Scourge! |
Too bad Galvatron and Cyclonus weren't 86. Anyhow, here is the trio together. Only Scourge had issues carrying the Unicron ship guns. It was simply too loose for both of his hands. Must be them pink fingernails. Anyhow, I love how Cyclonus was able to stick Galvie's cannon into his arm cannon modification. Yes, Scourge's matrix bearing scene was once again from "The burden hardest to bear episode."
Conclusion
Galvatron is a great figure in robot mode. I love how he has the reference to the 86 film thanks to the Chain-n-Matrix accessory. He is the G1 looking official Galvatron you want as of to date. You also want him to complete your 86 villains crew none the less. I really didn't care much for his alt mode. Once again, it's good he is a cannon once again but I didn't become dazzled by it especially after a fairly difficult transformation. Anyhow, thanks for reading and take care folks. Jesus loves you.
