Transformers Studio Series 86 07 Transformers the Movie Slag (Slug) and Daniel Witwicky Leader Class review!

86 Slag aka slug
Me Slag say give boot to tyranny!

"Me Slag say you full of Beryllium Baloney!" ~ Slag, Transformers Movie.

Finally got a chance to review a new figure. Got this figure last month but been so busy and plus all the dumb politics that have been circulating for the past months made it difficult for me to do some reviews. Anyhow, let's get started!

Boxing

According to the back of the box, his backdrop is supposed to be the entrance of the scene where Slag knocks the door down on the Quintesson prosecutor and says "excuse me." Nice reference. Slag also kicks off wave 2.

Standing tall w/ Daniel Witwicky

Give boot to tyranny again!

Yes, me Slag have waist swivel

So on these reviews, I am calling him by his original G1 name: Slag. First off, I am more of a Grimlock fan so for Slag, he looks beautifully done I'll admit though I don't have much of attachment to him. Love the red color overall. Weight and handle feels almost just like Grimlock. Joints are tight and plays just fine. The only problem with my Slag was his left hand had trouble pegging weapons in. You have to really press his weapon down hard to get it in. His right hand pegs weapons perfect. It's probably just my figure. And then you have Daniel, whom you can see his face through his helmet in the box art. Here he is played by a stunt double because all you see is an egg-shaped dome of a head and that is it. Also, his arms and legs are the only parts of his body you can move up or down/front and back (Bushwacker WWE entrance). His best pose is pretty much the horse stance. More on this later.

I have the power!

So like usual, find all them 5mm pegs and stick the weapons to your liking. Here he is standing tall next to Grimlock. I had issues even with trying to place Nonnefs sword onto Slag's left hand. Got it to work but it was no laughing matter. Grimlock handles all weapons just fine.

Alt mode

Imo, a more difficult transformation than Grimlock without using instructions that is. Halfway through I ended up using them. Besides that the transformation turned out beautiful overall. Who also would had thunk that his torso would cave in to align part of his frill. The golden paint on his head is a nice touch too. His weapon forms his tail and his horns can come off. I'm not sure if it forms another gimmick, but I'll sure to cover it in the future if I find out.

With Grimlock and Wheelie

So you got the same rider gimmick. Here was where I discovered that Wheelie was more versatile than Daniel. Wheelie has a waist and head swivel whereas Daniel, as I said earlier, has mainly a Bushwacker gimmick and he could open wide his legs. Ok, don't get any nasty ideas. Wheelie is actually more fun to play with though I guess Daniel does look cooler.

Conclusion:

86 Slag here to complete your movie Dinobots. Can't complain if you are a Dinobot fan. Slag is done nicely and only that left hand of his really gave me problems. His transformation was tough at first but it should be easy peasy on the next round. Yeah, he is fun to play with and the Triceratops alt mode looks and plays great as well. I think the Dinobots are the exact opposite of most TF figures where their alt modes are the reason why you really want the figure. Anyhow, that is that and by the grace of God, I'll see you folks next time.

Me Slag say relax
