Aloha folks, it has been a long time since I've posted a Transformer review. Today we kick start the New Year with WFC Siege Sideswipe! Yeah, of all the legends and old figures that I still need to open and review, I just decided to go with the latest toyline. Once again, Takara and Hasbro has merged into one so whether you buy one or the other, it is the same figure with the same paintjob, tweaks, and all. I shot some of these photos using the shutter speed option time around. The results: a mix bag for me. Forgive me for some of the blurry shots. Still learning and I guess I do need to have a better setup overall. Anyhow, let's get started.
Boxing:
Neat little packaging with the instructions it comes with. You get to see some of the upcoming characters displayed on the side of the box. Also advertised is the battle master figures you can use as an extra gun with blast effects which puts them on my want list. In this category, I'm probably anticipating Chromia since I never got her Legends figure.
Robot mode:
Standing tall? Featuring Universe Sideswipe.

Positives: We got a G1 looking Sideswipe! As much as I loved Universe Sideswipe as my G1 stand-in, WFC Sideswipe takes the cake! Like his character persona, Sideswipe carries a rocketblaster, whose red part can be removed and used as his shoulder cannon or as a hand-gun depending on what's your preference. He also has this battle damage gimmick which is prevalent throughout the WFC figure lines. Thank God the damage is minimized to just his shin flaps and a little by his belt line. As for the figure itself, the joints are tight and character poseability is top notch.
Negatives: Unfortunately, Hasbro has decided to cut costs by making a deluxe figure such as Sideswipe smaller than his deluxe Universe counterpart. I was in awe when I took this figure out but as soon as I compared WFC Swipe to Universe Swipe, I was a little disappointed. I guess we can't win em all.
Alt mode:
WFC Swipe looks more like a Lamborghini at the moment. He has enough pegs to even carry Universe Swipe's weapons on him. Sizewise: Universe is still a little thicker and longer. Not to mention, WFC feels very light in this mode. However, I felt WFC Swipe easier to transform and play with in this mode. Very easy, I mean so easy you really don't need the instruction manual. For the most part I always forego the manual unless if I really need to.

Conclusion:
WFC Sideswipe is an impressive figure. I liked him a lot and I was very iffy in getting him because I didn't feel the need to have another Sideswipe, but I couldn't pass up on him because Hasbrotoyshop.com was offering a Christmas sale on him, Hound, Cog, and Skytread all for $10 each! For that price, Sideswipe was worth the admission. $20 which is his retail price is a little too steep especially on the downscale of a deluxe figure. Overall, he would had been perfect had it not been for his battle damage paint job, but that was the theme of the WFC line. Get him if you need a G1 representation of Swipe or if you simply need one. Later folks and see you next time.
