Toy Review: Transformers: Titans Return Galvatron and Nucleon.

Aloha folks, it has been a while since I popped an update. Today's review is the insane, feared 2nd leader of the Decepticons: Galvatron. Galvatron is apparently a Headmaster now and his partner in crime is Nucleon who is none other than a mini-Megatron in disguise. Without further delay, let's get started!

Boxing and contents:

For anybody that is wondering, you can see Astrotrain, Blaster, and Fort Max on the inner boxing. I didn't bother taking out the card of the packaging but you get your artwork and stats.

Galvatron Robot mode:

Aesthetically, the figure looks amazing. However, what leaves to be desired is a better helmet. Heck, that is not a helmet at all, but a face mask. Sometimes his eyes are obscured due to this awkward fit of a mask. Then the next concern is his shoulder tabs due to the fact it is in the way for most of his poses. You need to flip it up just to pull up his arm cannon. The swivel that allows Galvatron to turn his head is very limited disallowing you the pleasure to make some decent poses with his head. The black tab located on his back also kept popping off. Was very annoyed at this point.

Nucleon

Well, Nucleon is your mini-Megatron that is easily transformable and can also be placed on other headmaster figures. However, even this category is not without problems. Besides the previously mentioned swivel issue, Nucleon is tightly jammed onto Galvatron.  If you manage to take him out, some pressure is needed to put Nucleon back in. Then, if we compare him to Takara's version, he is pretty bland looking otherwise it's cool to have Megatron in some ways. After all, Megatron and Galvatron are supposed to be the same person in G1 cartoon continuity.

Alt mode: Jet

So he is triple changer now due to a jet mode. Though this mode is a novelty to have, I wasn't too impressed by this mode. Maybe I'm just used to Galvatron being a cannon so I guess I'm picky. Of course, what headmaster gimmick is complete without allowing your partner to ride your cockpit?

Alt mode 2: Cannon

It's got to this point of so much negativity I have for this figure. But here it kinda ends. Cannon mode is very easy to transform and imo, the most likable mode of all his transformation and features. Though I didn't take a pic, you can play his legs to change the positioning of his cannon aiming.

Titans return vs Classics Galvatron

Definite improvement looks wise. Heck, despite all the problems I had with this figure, he looks and plays better than the classics version. I refused to transform the classics version because that is how hard he is to play with.

Conclusion:

If you aren't going to play with Galvatron much, then he is the perfect fodder for your G1 collection. I admit I was pretty disappointed by this figure though he looked awesome the way before you remove him from the box.  I usually go Takara's route but I disliked the lavender purple they place on purple looking characters. Well folks, I'm looking forward to doing more reviews in the future to get my game back up. Laters and go with God folks.
