Toy Review: Takara Tomy Transformers Unite Warriors LynxMaster aka Sky Reign UW-EX 2 of 2! Combiner wars UW Lynxmaster

In our last episode, the owner of this blog was not too impressed with the pics he took. So therefore he tried his best this episode to make the pics look more sharper. Tune in now for the epic final conclusion of the Takara Tomy Transformers Unite Warriors LynxMaster part 2 review!

Lynx mode ( unofficial mode)

In the last review I was disappointed that Sky Lynx wasn't able to break up into two parts; one being his bird mode and one being the Lynx mode featured in the original G1 toys and cartoons.  The Lynx mode is featured here as the combined version when the warriors unite. This is probably the closest I can configure him into looking like his G1 Lynx mode. He looks like he is doing the hula in the above pics. Having too much fun I guess.

Some filler content

The Offroad mold

Featuring: Unite Warriors protectobot: First Aid with comparisons to Unite Warriors Lynxmaster warriors: Ratchet and Trailbreaker.

As mentioned in the last review, all these autobots presented here are re-tools and remolds of the Decepticon Offroad whom I do not own. Ratchet and First Aid look nearly identical albeit the head sculpt difference. Trailbreaker is a lot similar to Offroad despite the arm cannon and head sculpt difference once again. Ratchet and First Aid have thicker back calves which forms the back of their trunks meanwhile Trailbreaker doesn't have these thus forming the bed of his truck mode. I also mixed and matched their weapons.

The Rook mold

Featuring: Swindle of Unite Warriors Bruticus and Nosecone of UW Computron fame.

Same drill here. All re-tools of Rook who is of protectobot fame. I also do not own the Rook figure. Hound and Swindle look very similar besides the head and colors. They both have the same gun though Hound carries a axe as well. Nosecone is your extensive retool so his weapons are different without a doubt. Once again, I sorta mixed and match their weapons here. Should had gave one of them Nosecone's drill.

The Breakdown mold

Featuring: UW Lightspeed of Computron fame and UW Breakdown from UW Menasor team.

Well, you can see some of the differences physically. I need not explain except that there is an added bumper to the Breakdown mold for Lightspeed and Wheeljack.  Mixed and Match once again.

LynxMaster

Well, I bought this set just to obtain Sky Lynx but this combined form does not disappoint overall. The figure stands well for the same HFG Takara has given us throughout the entire UW line. Two of the pics came out fairly blurry. I did my best to sharpen it but no dice. Anyhow, the figure is a nice re-imagine to what Sky Lynx could had been if he emerged with the chosen warriors he was tasked to work with. I like how his legs could swivel giving him better versatility in posing. Also we finally have an autobot combiner whose main weapon is actually a sword. A good addition to the CW/UW line. My only gripes for the most part is upon examination close up, he has some empty spaces by his hip area. This was originally his cargo site for the shuttle mode. The holes just make it seem as if something else was meant to be there. Also, Hastak could had allowed his Lynxhead to expand his mouth. It's the way you see here and it's the way it will be. His head is a little tight to swivel but that is the least of my complaints.

*Note* I decided to not mix and match his limbs. This has been done to death by my other previous reviews. Besides Sky Lynx, none of his limbs are unique or new. Once again, they are just re-molds and recolors of previous figures. Maybe one day I may re-visit this figure, but work and other hobbies are getting the best of me.

Conclusion:

Good figure. Ever since Menasor I've been picky on how most combiners stand and I mean literally. Computron and LynxMaster brings this issue to ease. However, as much as I want to recommend this figure to everybody, he feels like a filler. Also, if you already own the western release, there is no point in double dipping for both are almost similar except for a few color differences, Smokescreen (Hasbro), and Ratchet (Takara). If you need Sky Lynx and his crew, pick him up. He is an awesome gestalt that will stand great with your other combiners depending on whether you are pro-G1 or not. Aloha and see you folks later.
