Boxing and packaging.
What I didn't shoot here was the instructions manual which is behind his stat paper. No biggie, Shockwave is easy to transform or play with. The manual is there regardless on whether you need it or not. Comes with a two page comic though I have no idea what is going on for the most part. Click on the link below for the tfwiki explanation of the comic. The link also tells you who Cancer is as well. I have no idea who Cancer was prior to reading the TFwiki site.
Robot mode (Shockwave and Cancer):
I don't know what's up with Takara's fascination of making all the purple colored Transformers light colored purple. If you have seen the cartoons, then you know that majority of the purple colored Transformers (i.e. Galavatron, Cyclonus, and Shockwave etc..) are dark purple, but their invidual figure releases are light colored. Why? I dunno but Takara has been doing this for years. The pics may make him look a little darker but he is light purple in reality. Anyhow, Shockwave still looks good and Cancer has a headmaster gimmick as a backpack. No qualms here.
Vehicle and Headmaster mode (Shockwave and Cancer):
Shockwave looks awesome despite the fact he is only palm size. Easy to transform Cancer as you flip his legs and he forms a head automatically. If you have the actual deluxe size TF that has the Headmaster gimmick, you can swap out the figure's head for Cancer's. Cancer can also utilize Shockwave as a laser-like turret though I did an unofficial transform for Cancer to sit on Shocky.
The official way:
So the official way requires you to twist Shockwave's arms a little and then fold it towards each other. It looks great but if you don't fold it all the way in, Cancer literally falls right through. The un-official way at least allows him to sit down.
With Bruticus!
Did you find Dory? Notice the guest stars in one of the pic background? Anyway, I tried to stick Shockwave on one of Bruticus's canon stacks but to no avail. I couldn't re-create that classic G1 moment where Bruty fired Shockwave off to space. Due to me abusing the aperture a lot on this, Bruticus got most of the focus on these shots. Due to how the hands/gun/feet mold are shaped in UW/CW line, it was fairly difficult pegging Shockwave on Bruticus. I didn't try it on other combiners though I figure the result would be the same. To make matters worse, Shockwave kinda has a double handle for his laser gun mold. So this made the connections even tighter and less space to work with.
Overall, Shockwave is a nice figure and blends in well if you paired him up to a gestalt for a small to big ratio scenario. However, that's all it is good for aside from aesthetics. When reporting to Megatron, Shockwave, well, has a lot answer for in what he did to himself after all these years. I still have Computron which I gotta open. He'll probably be the next review. Thank you for reading folks and see you next time.
