Transformers Combiner Wars Powerglide review (2015) Guest star: Unite Warriors Superion

It was inevitable that Powerglide would join the fray. Billed as a part of the combiner war legacy, does Powerglide fare great? First off, it took me a while to get him because I was debating whether to spend an extra few bucks just to get the Japanese version. I decided to stick with the western release because I hated the autobot sticker on the Japanese one. Seriously, what were they thinking? Now on with the pics like usual. Sorry for the loads of dust on the black floors.

This is probably the last time I am buying an TF figure from Amazon. First off, I bought Tailgate and the package came all creased up. Now, it you look carefully on the first pic, the box is slightly creased and it seemed as it was opened to begin with. It was taped in between the Powerglide portrait and the actual figure itself. And Amazon had the balls to decrease the price after I bought it for $10.88; they decreased the price back to retail $9.99 after I bought it. I love Amazon, but I seem to feel so disappointed every time I buy TF figures from them. Never again unless if have to.

Powerglide robot mode looks and feels like his G1 incarnation.  Also, as you guess, he is only legends size. You get a cool trading card and the autobot insignia is much better looking than that weird Japanese sticker. Payload is his weapon of choice here though he was borrowed from Generations Cosmos.

So, Powerglide has a third transformation: a gun! Just a slight modification from his jet mode, his back is a crosshair while his landing gear wheel serves as a gun handle. As for his alt-mode, as Powerglide used to always say " and away we go!" Nothing spectacular, but all his modes are easy transforms. No real difficulty here.

So here Powerglide is displayed with Unite Warriors Superion. Originally, Powerglide's weapon mode served as an alternate weapon for Sky-Dive, but when I tried it on, Skydive kept falling. So I tried it on Superion and at least glidey couldn't drag the big bot down. Due to his diminutive stature, Powerglide really makes Superion look good. Not much else to say here, but once again, he makes Superion look awesome!

Conclusion:

I don't know but I just ain't feeling the legends size figure. I don't have as much fun playing them like I do with Deluxe, Voyager, and Titan class figures. I guess they are just too simple for me. While Powerglide looks good, I can't help but feel that we need an deluxe version of him since we already got an Deluxe Warpath years ago. It's just awkward to have one tower over the other when they both were best buds in the show, or something like that. Anyways, Powerglide is not a bad figure to complete your G1 classics, just feel like he could had been more. Ciao!
