Transformers Toys Generations Legacy Deluxe Kickback Review

Hello folks, I am back with another Legacy review! This time it is with Kickback, the first of the Insecticons, to be released in this line. And hopefully, he won't be the last. Anyhow, let's get started!

Boxing

The Decepticons have the Decepticon artwork on their side cover. You match it with the Autobot one (Skids box used here) and you see the Earth merge and Megatron and Optimus have a face off. Despite the lack of clear plastic, my copy came dust free this time. Thank you HasbroPulse!

Profile scanned

Kickback in a breathing pose animation with yellow effects surging all over him. It looks cool on him actually.

Robot mode

Here he is standing tall. From what I gathered he is mainly G1 animation accurate except for his forehead which should be plain black. He comes with a gun which I actually didn't play with much though it is nicely painted. It's almost metallic looking but not quite. I love his wings, they look like glass but this is a really nicely done feature for the bug; you can also toggle with it. He comes with his energon blades which I played with the most. Kickback really kicks arse with these. Not to mention, they are translucent and greatly designed. Love the clear see-through chest piece though you can't open it. However, if you research the net, some folks will tell you how can, but it most likely involves some handi-work. I'm not that desperate just to get it open. It would be a nice G1 feature to do so though. He does have a nice rotating waist which can also be utilized in Insect mode. The only drawback is that his head is fairly loose. Possibly just my copy but it's loose here.

Delicious, eh? (Transform!)

Finally, this is probably what Kickback is famous for; his Insecticon mode. First off, this mode is laughably the most easiest transformation in history. You will get this transformation less than 10 seconds or close to there. So effortless that it did leave me a little disappointed at first. If you hated Skid's transformation, then you'll probably rejoice on this one because it is that quick and simple. His upper torso is fine. It looks great. However, I felt there could had been more to his feet because all you do is extend his heels to reveal his appendage like feet. All I saw was legs at first showcasing even more legs. But as I fidget with him, it kinda grew on me. You bend the legs to make it look cooler imo. My last complaint is his head again. You can move it in this mode but the face guard that covers his face does not swivel (it's a flip cover), so his face gets revealed when you twist his head.

Conclusion

Kickback is a good figure. Very easy Insect mode. Still can't kinda get over it but he is really sought after. Possibly the most difficult to get for this line as I am writing this. I did manage to snag one off Hasbropulse before he was sold out again. Bring on the other Insecticons!
Hmm. I know this guy

Transformers Toys Generations Legacy Deluxe Autobot Skids review

Hiya folks. Finally finished my first review on Transformers Legacy Skids. How does he fare? Let's find out and let's get started!

Boxing

Well, lot of you folks know by now that the clear plastic is now removed. I won't get into details on this so its easy for people to just touch the upper torso of the figure and get a grasp of how it feels.

*5/12 update

Got this on my phone. I didn't realize their stats are now done with a QR code online. Skids ain't the muscle but he is decent in everything else. Upon getting here, you see Skids perform his box art pose but with breathing animation along with some yellow spark effects.

Skidding tall

I like to get this off my chest that because the clear plastic on the box is no longer there, there was dust on my figure. Not only that, there was even a hair stuck to one of his wheels. Ok, satisfied? When you play with Skids, he feels light as Hastak seems to be using loads of cheaper and lighter plastic these days. But his joints especially his legs are very tight. And because of this he feels heavy in some ways. It's the best way I could explain this. Otherwise, Skids is a delightful figure. He comes with 3 weapons technically, though his blue energon axe is supposedly a battle effect but cmon, its a blue axe! His twin blaster is a tight fit as most internet complaints have sufficed. So be careful on this part. Because he has a 5mm port on his forearms you can modify his weapon placement to a stylish degree. Use your imagination here on how you want to form his weapons. Very posable figure to say the least.

Alt mode

Pretty easy transformation. Plays nicely once you get him into this form. The drawback here is that some parts of the windshield/front hood area has issues snapping in from time to time; another internet complaint that has been surfacing as well. Otherwise, have fun with the 1984 Honda city turbo.

Skids in Yellowstone

Conclusion

I don't know this character too much due to the fact he only appeared in a shoestring of episodes back in 84/85. But this guy's figure is done well. Skids plays very beautifully and he looks almost identical to his g1 toy and character. My first figure of the Legacy line and it is starting out promising. Despite not appearing much in the show, he is here for your completion purposes. Ciao.
