Happy Thanksgiving Transformer review: War for Cybertron Earthrise E37 Runamuck

Did a quick photoshoot before spending much needed time with the fam. Without delay, here is Runamuck.

Boxing

Here is the boxing and contents. I used the decoder to see where Runamuck is from. If I decoded the map right, he seems to represent Earth.

The figure:

Looking good so far. No qualms too much though he has an extra set of wheels for his heels. Depending on the angle, it sometimes looks like he is on a segway or something. Peg his weapons like other figures where ever you see the 5mm port.

Alt mode

This is the mode some folks complained about. Without a doubt, it is the weakest link of this figure.  He has an extra set of wheels again thanks to the segway wheels. Because of these extra wheels, his other wheels don't roll on the ground unless you push down on the car, but in doing so you also run the risk of rubbing/wearing out the bottom. Also, lots of his jigsaw configurations don't lock in place so smoothly. On the right side of the car, there is obviously a gap on mines by the rear wheel.   Another weird aspect is his chest piece which looks as if it was meant to be his car hood is his under belly for alt mode. His actual hood is hidden behind his back in robot mode. So I too share some disappointment in this mode like some others.

Recap

Positives
  • Nice representation of his G1 incarnation
  • Tight joints, flexible posing, waist swivel
  • Nice paint scheme. Love the white
  • Simple figure actually
  • Easy to transform to alt mode and back (the head part can be a little tricky in getting back out, but I'll let it slide).
Negatives:
  • The Segway wheels (that area) getting in the way of the car rolling in alt mode.
  • Jigsaw configurations that don't lock in place (alt mode once again)
  • Alt mode in general. Looked neat in the renders and all but presentation turned out fairly disappointing.

Conclusion:

Runamuck is get for completionists such as myself and it is a very good g1 anime representation we got. As long as you are not going for alt mode, he will stand out fine in robot mode. Hope Runabout turns out better. Take care folks and see you next time.

Nonnef Transformer upgrades for Siege Hound, Sideswipe, Red Alert, and Earthrise WheelJack.

Something always felt off about some of these characters that Hastak released. They were missing something basically. Let's find out what it is and let's get started!

Hound

What Nonnef did here was reproduced the G1 imagery of Hound's shoulder missile and his Holo gun.
For reference: look here:

I really love his missile.

Sideswipe

Sideswipe no longer needs to take off his shoulder cannon to use as a gun. Nonnef supplies you a shoulder cannon that can be leveled to various degrees and a extra rifle.

Red Alert

Ditto for Red Alert on the shoulder cannon shortage issue.  Now Red Alert has an array of weapons to fire at his disposal.

WheelJack

Extra accessory if you prefer to mount WJ's shoulder cannon to his left shoulder.

You can stick it to the left shoulder if you choose to stick the right shoulder cannon assembly piece but you can see it's a tight fit for him. He can freely move his head if you put it on the other side. Vice versa if you choose to change out the assembly piece, but you have to keep popping the base open which I didn't want to due to wear and tear over time. But for accuracy purposes, it will stay on the right. My only complaint is that I wish the wrenches were adjustable. The Generations version had this feature which allowed WJ to store his weapons more properly. His spoiler allows him to have longer shoulder wings which is a nice touch. I just putted his original spoiler in the back of his legs.

Perhaps, the most improved in this category. The original WJ design showcased smaller shoulder wings/spoiler and mini shoulder cannon gun. Now he has longer wings, bigger shoulder cannon, an extra smaller gun/repair weapon, and 2 wrenches.

Here is his reference:

Alt mode:

Now these guys are ready to go all out! Hound wins in this category in storing the most weapons wherever you have a 5mm port. WJ has the best redesign though this disables him from storing more weapons. But Hound did him a favor and carried his gun. Funny thing was that I found out you can store his wrenches as exhaust ports. Use your imagination here.

Alternating weapons and final words

Use your imagination again. Overall, a vast improvement over the nearly barebones accessories Hastak gave us. To sum this up, the quality of the custom weapons are great though it took me some time to put some of the pieces together. The characters with their extra weapons look much cooler and are more fun to play around with. Enjoy. You won't be disappointed by the upgrades if you choose to get them.
