Hola! Today we venture off the unfinished Siege line reviews as we have a special: Earthrise Hoist! Without delay, let's get started!
Boxing:
With Earthrise WheelJack
Ditto
New artwork
Galvatron
The boxwork is pretty much inspired by the Siege line. The side art features past Siege characters with some upcoming Earthrise figures. Making their return is Siege Hound and Sideswipe. The upcoming characters are : Arcee, Wheeljack (review coming next), Trailbreaker, Quintesson, Optimus Prime (Earthrise version?), and possibly Earthrise Megatron. Megatron is most likely going to be recycled from the Siege line with some new features. Shockwave and TR Bumblebee (most likely, could be wrong through) make an appearance here as well. I'm not too familiar with the character in between Shockwave and the Quintesson. Looks like Refraktor in some ways but I wouldn't hold my breath.
You also get to decode a message using a red decoder. Mines is Junkion but I'm not sure what to look beyond this. I never got into the whole secret message thing from the Siege line. I tried this for a few minutes but I really didn't know what to look for once again.
Hoist the figure

Use it like a gun
Hiding the handle
He has an arm cannon! I made two (3 in a sense) categories here because his arm cannon can either go on his left or right hand though I prefer his right hand for this review. It may look awkward to see the handles in some pics if you were attempting to make some poses in his default hand packaging. That handle popping out can be weird looking from time to time. Thank God Hastak made his fists swivable. That way in the 2nd category, you can see that annoying handle is hidden from view.
And last but not least, the third hidden category: peg his weapons in any hole you see. Use your imagination.
Following Siege tradition, Hoist has battle damage in his front bumper or his stomach area.
As for the figure, he has a waist swivel and he handles nicely. No qualms here. His G1 dark green colors stand out well here.
Alt mode:
Fairly easy to transform into but this is the first alt mode to irk me in a long time of playing with TF figures. His arms transform directly under his driver and passenger doors. This really bothered me as I had trouble getting this part done and then when I decided to look at the manual to see where to put his arms. I thought it was a mistake, but yes, you have to put both fists right under both sides of his doors. I just really find this an awkward way of transformation plus it really looks weird . It just feels off.
In this mode you can also see his other battle damage, all the green colors prior to his hood are a faded green. Subtle in some ways but it is a battle damage nonetheless.
Vs Generations Hoist
To get straight to the point, Earthrise Hoist is the definitive Hoist for your classics lineup. Then again I wouldn't say this is fair in some ways because Generations Hoist is based on the IDW design. I also prefer the darker green on Earthrise Hoist plus he is more G1 in general. You decide on who you like better.
Conclusion:
Get him now! Besides the "ugly fists underneath his doors" alt mode. Hoist is a solid figure. Another hit from Hastak. The Siege/Earthrise has another hit!
