Matthew 6:15 - But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Matthew Chapter 18
Unless if you blaspheme against the holy ghost, forgiveness is forgiveness regardless of what the person did which includes murder, rape, and anything that person done to severely harm you. Yes, you may not forgive right away because everybody handles the pain differently. But at the end you need to forgive if you want to go to Heaven. If you don't then that is all on you. Free will, remember?
Revenge? As tough as this may be but we are reminded that
Romans 12:19 King James Version (KJV)
19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
Once again I ain't perfect but I'm not sure why this guy I once knew have this God-like complex. I have my issues that I need to deal with and I need lots of forgiveness and guiding from the Lord but this concept ain't difficult to grasp. I admit it is just very hard to accomplish from time to time. Once again, I ain't perfect.
There is no such thing as excessive forgiveness as Jesus pointed out. You forgive seventy times seven. Do the math. It's a lot. I haven't come across a 100 times that I needed to forgive people or the same brother that sinned against me or against the lord. Even if I did, I still have 390 more cases of forgiving to go. Once again, that's a lot! Forgiveness doesn't mean letting the perpetrator walk free. There are still consequences! You commit the crime, you still do the time. If that person walks free then God is now the judge, jury, and executioner when that person's soul leaves his body.
The world isn't fair. And don't forget there are lots of corrupted people in this world so don't expect these people to serve jail time or what not. Remember God said that Satan is the prince of the air? So his influence is huge across this globe! How many people truly serve God today? Especially those in power of these courts? You wonder why all those rapists, murderers and thieves walk free? Well, either the system has really failed us or it wouldn't be far fetched that they got powerful people on their side bailing them out. Remember with man, it's impossible but with God its not. Lots of these courts don't even want God in there so how can any Godly verdict stand out?
If I forgive a rapist, does it mean I forgot what he/she did? Heck no. But will I take revenge? Look at the last scripture above that I quoted. Does it mean I want to be buddy buddy with them? You may but I'm not that strong to do so. Forgiveness does not equate trust. You pretty much need to rebuild that trust again. Give them a chance again? You may, I most likely wouldn't want them near me again unless I have to be in situation where I have to love thy enemy. Besides, God probably will have other plans for them. Though I have given numerous people chances again and I thank God that some people have done the same for me. If they keep repeating the offense, then they got no one but themselves to blame and judgement will come for them sooner or later. This also means you don't let them hurt you over and over.
Once again, you can distance yourself from the perpetrator and still forgive them from afar. Until they clean up their act, it is up to you whether you want to let them back in or not. Sometimes they will not clean up their act but that is part of life too and God still commands us to forgive. Once again, God will deal with them. Don't wait for them however. If it comes then it comes. God will heal all wounds over time. Forgiveness doesn't equate buddy buddy! Remember that you are letting go of grudges for your personal sake. There were murderers, rapists and thieves that did turn their lives around no matter how extreme their case was. So did they not deserve forgiveness? Once again forgiveness does not equal trust! We all sinned and fell short in the glory of God. Romans 3:23
Forgiveness.... it's your choice. It's not a hard concept to understand, but in reality, it can be difficult to perform. That is why you need to pray to God for strength everyday on this matter. It is tough for me, not going to lie. I'm not forcing anybody to forgive, but to that person, stop calling it Satanic and evil when God commanded us to do so. It is very contradicting.
*I don't want to talk about this guy anymore. This is one incidence that I really want to let the past die.* Moving on I hope.
