Toy Review: Transformers Generations Springer

At long last, I finally decided to review Generations Springer. The funny thing is that I own Warbot Defender (Fansproject version of Springer) but never did opened either one until now. Enough with the whole teasing and thesis statements. Let's get started!

The box!

Box is your standard Generations voyager packaging, but I thought the poster version of his box portrait was nice. Dunno why but it looked very nice.

Breaking out of the plastic prison (robot mode)

Springer looks and plays amazing. Since this is the Hasbro version, he isn't G1 cartoon accurate but I thought the Takara version was too expensive at the time, though it had the darker green colors to mimic the show. Anyhow, I love the myriad of posing you can do with him, especially with his weapons. I felt that he did have a little trouble standing but for the most part he did well.  His gun is a double barrel missile launcher, so it has a spring mechanism to fire off your plastic projectile.

Armored car mode

Springer wasn't really notoriously famous for his car mode and we didn't see it much in the cartoons for this form was overshadowed by his helicopter mode. For those who don't know, Springer is a triple changer-- meaning he has three forms. His car mode looks like a good iteration of his G1 car form. The colors are nice though I kinda like the darker colors of the Takara Tomy version. My only complaint was that my figure couldn't really peg tabs too well. His left shoulder blade, which form part of his front hood and lights, was very stiff and left a large gap in between his hood. So to make it uniform, I left a gap on the right shoulder blade in some pics. Overall, it took me a while to figure how to transform him to this mode, it ain't hard but it ain't a walk in the park either.

Helicopter mode

This category would look better if I had a toy stand. Helicopter mode is a fine looking addition to the triple changer. Again, this mode took some tinkering to get to. The Helicopter mode doesn't look like his square shaped form in G1, but I'm just glad we have a third mode based on the character design. For some pics, I didn't properly plugged in his blades correctly (originally his sword). Additionally, It took me a while to figure how to insert his spring weapon under his cockpit. No real qualms here but have fun with spinning his propellers in this mode.

Arcee

They were supposed to be the couple of the show. It was hinted at a lot though you were never going to really see true robot romance. Anyhow, here is Takara Legends LG10 Arcee everyone.

Conclusion:

Springer is a great addition and sports a nice updated look for your G1 classics line. My only problem was that he doesn't peg well in some areas but besides that he is an awesome triple changer figure.

This might not end well.
