Transformers: Maketoys Giant Type-61 aka Devastator part III of III

This is it. The finale. Shot this a few weeks ago, but due to school I had difficulty finding the time to upload this. To brief this summarily, the figure comprises of 6 robot figures and they form the mighty-"not Devastator"- Giant. Because this is a third party figure, the Decepticon logos are non-existent plus the names of the characters are different.

Behold! Devastator!

Earlier on, I reviewed the figures on their robot modes and alt modes. I was amazed by how they have multitude of gimmicks in weapon set-ups. I had the most trouble transforming Scrapper, who goes by the name Wheel Loader in this one. I had one of his legs popped off and had trouble putting it back on. Once I got it back on, I vowed to never transform him again.

When I finally got to Giant mode, it was downhill from there. Was a fairly easy set up and you could pull more gimmicks with his crane and guns to form one cool looking assault weapon. Not that I condone violence. Because of Generation 1' s inconsistency of how Giant (Devastator) was animated, Maketoys decided to come with two heads: One with the eyes and one with the visor. The latter probably being the preferred look by most fans. The cool aspect of the first head is that you get to move his jaw up or down giving him a battle cry type of look.

Head two.

You can pose Giant on a medium scale as I would rate it. But he is merely more for decoration. He can be quite wobbly since he is composed of 6 attachments. He is half the size of the Hasbro Voyagers. Only wished his hand was big enough for us to get the impression that he could hold the autobots in the palm of his hand.

Overall: I think Giant is a good set-up for your generation Transformers figures. Maketoys produced a 2nd run about two months ago, so here is your chance to pick him up if you missed the first run. Unfortunately, he is very costly at $355+. I was able to pick him up a while ago when I still had a job. The figure and his components are versatile all around.  TFC toys made a more taller, bulkier and greener version of Devastator named Hercules. However, he is $100-150 more. God bless dudes and dudettes. Until next time....

Verdict: Thumbs Up!
